Baby birds (swallows I think) waiting for food. These were seen and heard on the hike into Vernazza. Their eager cries called them to my attention as I entered the city.
Can you hear the roar of the crowd in the Colosseum when it opened? Thousands of people could be seated in this stadium - you can tell that from the size of people in the ruins. In my imagination I listened to the past.
Lots of Italian flags out to show support for the soccer team. On the night of the game the noise in the streets and bars became louder and louder - until Italy lost.
The picture at the top of the page shows noisy swallows as they circle our group. We were overlooking the ruins of a Roman theater in Volterra.
